The Moultonboro Board of Selectmen announced last Thursday that the Fox Hollow intersection project approved at Town meeting in March will be fully funded by a Federal Stimulus grant.... for $600,000. The numbers presented at Town meeting indicated $461,500. That's great news and should put some $200,000 or so back in the taxpayers pocket.
Our Town Administrator was quoted in this weeks Meredith News as saying that “We need to figure out why their (DOT) numbers are a little higher..." 30% more is not a little higher. It's off the mark by almost one third. Where did that original estimate come from?

You must be kidding!! I'll bet the TA and BoS already have plans for the $200,000 and it's not to the the taxpayers pocket it will be going!! Prove me wrong TA and BoS.
Unfortunately, this "free" money, if from the "Stimulus" Bill, will have to be spent in a prescribed time frame, usually in the next year or so. It can't be used for local property tax relief, so the BoS will dream up something to spend it on.
This whole thing is a disgrace. Fox Hollow never should have been the top project in the first place. Talk about the old boy network getting what they want. Does everyone understand that the Chair of the Planning Board is married to the guy who owns a few hundred house lots to be developed in Fox Hollow once all this goes through? How do these people sleep at night anyway?
What about Sheridan Road? In light of the recent collision between the dump trucks and the numerous near-misses I've alone experienced, it should be looked in to.
