- 77% of Moultonboro Academy students on average take the SAT'sat least once. The state average is 63% of seniors so it's not clear whether the MA numbers also include juniors who take the SAT's in the spring and can retake it in the fall as seniors. It would be a much more accurate comparison if they compared seniors to seniors.
- The report indicates that the data used for public schools uses average scores of public high schools, while the MA data is the best single score each student received.
- The report in an effort ( in their words) to equalize data, took the scores of the top 63% of MA scorers, and compared that to the 63% NH SAT takers average scores and determined that the MA scores far exceeded the state of NH average. Of course they do, but it's not a valid comparison. How would the top 63% of NH SAT test takers compare to our top 63%?
Confused yet? Overall, when you look at the 5 year averages for all MA test takers compared to the average of all NH test takers, the scores are good, but remarkably average. Hardly stellar achievemen
Critical Reading: 2% higher than the NH average
Mathematics: 1% lower than the NH average
Writing: 2% higher than the NH average

So what kind of "assessment" report is this? It doesn't assess anything if the data is not comparable. Unbelievable! And really, even if it were valid statistically, does 1 or 2 % higher or lower scores compared to other NH schools really matter? Does it get more or fewer kids into better colleges than other high schools? Highly unlikely.
Got to love it. Mikey playing manipulate the numbers again. Thank you blogger for informing the public.
I guess for above average costs of education (highest per student in the state)and "only the best for Moultonborough" attitude we should expect the highest of results from the school: the School Board, Administration, teachers and staff.
With "Mix-em-up Mikey" at the helm and juggling the numbers nothing will ever change in this "wonderful little town".(KL) Big buck costs for average results.
Do the SAT stats come from the class of 2010? I heard that last year's senior class president scored at like the 99.9th percentile. Drop that one score and the rest would definitely be below average on average.
