Should have posted here ...not Heritage.

Regarding the Time-Warner contract with MoBo ...

Regarding negotiation leverage ...
It would not seem to be in the Town's interest to "renew" the contract two plus years out, when the "trigger" is one year out.

The advantage is with Time-Warner, not the Town! Time-Warner will probably become Comcast this Fall/Winter. Metrocast is "around" MobO!

Maybe join consortium?

Does anyone really think that Comcast has not done "due diligence" on the acquisition of Time-Warner?

The Contract:

The UNH site lists MoBo franchisee as "other"; they are probably not aware that "other" lists Adelphia, that went bankrupt and was taken over by Time-Warner for MoBo.

It is becoming evident that the BOS is going to have its hands full reining in the T A, who has appointed himself cheerleader in chief for the new gym. Right now, his war chant is BRC, a committee disbanded a few years ago, before the downturn of population and income.

I had asked at the last BoS meeting why Time-Warner sent a letter to the town for cable renewal in 2014 when the contract goes out to 2017.

I think I found out why!

I was doing some reading regarding the franchise renewal process, and it became clear that the process could be a nightmare(the legal formal process or the legal informal process)

It is a sandbox for lawyers!

"Three years out" comes under legal purview ... and it is not easy to get rid of the cable Operator!
