BRC Facility Site Study Focus Areas

As discussed at the kickoff meeting for the BRC Facility Site Study on July 10th, 4 potential sites (or some combination of them), were on the table as possibilities for a site as required by town meeting direction last March. Below are the four locations which were walked by the group which included Frederick L. Matuszewski of CMK Architects P.A., and Ed Jansury of Rist-Frost Shumway Engineering.
The next meeting will be held at 2pm this coming Thursday at Town Hall to discuss recommendations based upon the the architect and engineer's further study of the parcels.
All documents related to this project can be found here on the Town website.

Many thanks to our new selectman who has been pushing to have this deliberated at public meetings, and pushing to keep it under the BOS control.
Do we already own all four possible sites? Do not worry about the use of the Taylor property....we are talking about spending 15 times that amount on this gym. Let's get this right...just in case it goes thru. Our usualM O is to dump a couple hundred grand into studies and plans, then shelf the whole thing. The old " let's get Em a little pregnantPloy " maybe next time we will be able to do the yes-no vote first. And under S B 2 rules, so all may vote.

UNLESS you are using an Apple I Pad. The four addendums to the BRC 2011 report require you to downloadMicrosoft Silverlight, and now they state that is not possible on an I Pad. You are also locked out of the flood plain maps, and the tax assesors property cards...
Last year they were goingto fix this. Still waiting.

Site Number two looks practical. It could share parking available at both schools, and be a safe short walk from both schools. With that location it could also serve as an overflow gym for either school. No bussing, or parents hauling kids to the after school day care.

We may get a fair shake from the two professional groups, the archetect, and the civil engineers. These are both groups that she school uses, not our town Engineer.
The next time the bid goes out for engineering services, we must review some areas where we have been sold impractible solutions, and see if we can have an engineering service further removed from our Town Administrator.
This site plan exercise is badly out of sequence...first you should determine that you need it. Including the Taylor property we will be $ 400,000. Into this, and then be told we can not waste that money, spend the other 3 1/2 million...

Don't worry about the Taylor Property, we can plant a few nut trees there, and some poison sumac, and call it the Terezini Town Forest. He will be itching to do something with that land...

AND HOW!! I fear what Retired Engineer says will come true: we're "$400,00 into this and ... cannot waste that money" ...

As a side note, will be very interested to learn what sort of statistics and usage numbers the TA and Rec. Director provide tomorrow at the CIPC meeting regarding Rec. Dept. requests.
