How big is too big ?

Hard to miss the Shawn Coope for Carroll County Sheriff signs seemingly popping up everywhere. They are BIG! I know very little about him or why he is running for Sheriff , but I question the need to spend so much on these mini billboards. I know a little about our current Sherriff Domonic Richardi and heard him speak at two campaign events when he ran two years ago and I voted for him and probably will again. I also see his campaign signs along the road, but they are the typical 18" by 24" and not so ....BIG.
The size of a campaign sign should not be the deciding factor on which candidate to vote for , but maybe it says something about the candidate when you have to put up huge ugly  signs to get your name out there.
Decide for yourself. Both have their own Facebook campaign sites: Shawn Coope for Carroll County Sheriff and  Richardi for Sheriff .

Couldn't agree with you more. The signs are obscene roadside litter, and have no place along our scenic roads.
Very bad judgement call by the candidate.

What's the difference between one large sign or dozens of smaller signs, sometimes up to 10 or 12 right after each other on the same piece of property. I would rather have a couple of larger signs than have to put up with hundreds of the smaller signs, many placed in the right of way...

Are we really going to judge a candidate because their sign is bigger???

"Are we really going to judge a candidate because their sign is bigger." Very funny, some candidates really do believe bigger is better. I'll leave it at that.

Should you judge a candidate by the size of his sign?
Lets see: Big + Expensive= Buying the election
Vote for Richardi. He already has the job, has the experience and is not about trying to get a second pension like Mr. Coope. Ask yourselves who is supporting him. Look around town.

Just check the qualifications of Shawn Coope and listen to his ideas. He is not just looking for another pension - he left his prior job because he wants to be our Sheriff and could not run for office in that job.

Keep in mind that the current sheriff is fighting tooth and nail to keep the status quo where M'boro pays, and pays a lot for dispatch services that we do not use subsidizing other carroll county towns because of our deep pockets. Other counties bill only those communities that use the service.

I don't believe that all other counties apportion cost of services based upon use, in fact as I recall it is the exception. These are good questions to ask the two candidates.

Back in the 80's I help a candidate for state senate with their campaign. We made and placed about 12-15 signs that were made on 4 ft x 4 ft plywood. We also had a very limited number of the standard signs. The larger signs were much more effective that lining up a dozen or more of the standard ones. AND since the larger ones cost the candidate a lot more $$ they were taken down and stored much sooner after the election than the "leave 'em all winter" roadside trash signs.
And really are we not in the middle of a county crises? Should we not be considering these two candidates on their merits and their policies? I am not working for either candidate and would like to hear more of their plans (all county candidates) for a more fair way to bill their services to the area towns.

I really find that comment that Shawn Coope is buying the election by having larger signs to be ridiculous. I support Shawn Coope for Carroll County Sheriff. I can assure you he is not buying thus election. He is an upstanding man who is running for this office for all the right reasons. He is highly qualified and is what our community needs. He is attending many meet and greets in CC and I suggest you all how find out who he is and what he is about. You can also find out more about him at ShawnCoope4sherriff.com.

Coope talks of being fiscally responsible yet buys large expensive signs with his picture on them? Seems oxymoronic. August 20 campaign finance report ought to show more about spending. Also he has been walking around with campaigning with prior sheriff. That ought to be reason enough not to support him.
