So here's the real poop, pun intended. I can't get my hands on the data, but the data for the last decade or so on water quality, specifically, fecal contamination for Long Island has been excellent, in fact there were zero positives. States Landing in that period had only 3. Data was also provided for Gilford and Laconia and Weirs in particular has had I believe 20 closures due to fecal contamination in that same time frame. I think we have exceptional water quality and this incident in my own opinion was due to high volume and very warm weather. With the rain the last few days, it should be much better by next week. It is unfortunate, but a reality of lakes and beaches all over.
Lastly, no one in our town in any position of authority would hide and not disclose poor water test results for any reason. Public safety is always a priority.
