Vision Statement for the Town of Moultonboro

This vision statement was crafted by the BoS after our goal setting retreat this summer. It was finalized and approved  a few weeks ago and copies  were attached to the letter of invitation to all  the invitees to the Convention of Committees.  A vision statement identifies what an organization ( in this case the Town) would like to achieve or accomplish in the short and long term, and will provide the inspiration for our strategic decisions.

•Being a place where people want to live and work because of its quality of life, thoughtful and tasteful development and commitment to protect its natural resources.
•A business friendly environment with attractive living wage jobs and a magnet for high tech low impact businesses.
•Matching services to the needs of the population, both year round and seasonal, while diligently protecting its low total tax and tax rate advantage.
•Its best management practices particularly its personnel systems known to be fair to attract and retain employees, reward excellence and provide opportunities for advancement.
•A cohesive community with a unified purpose and vision across all town employees, boards and committees.
•A vibrant and increasing population actively engaged in civil civic discourse that is able to reach consensus on important issues and then see those decisions through to conclusion.

Another edict from on high.....Did this get proofread by any taxpayers before going to press? As a resident, I want a town governance that is fair, honest, and transparent. A leadership that believes in communication...two way communication, as exemplified by this blogsite.
No reference to the schools here...you are NOT two separate entities.
May be time to revisit the petition signed by 200 residents, looking for a fresh leader in town hall. That would take you a fair piece down your vision.

Being a place where --- all voters are allowed to vote on issues, without being told to fly up from Florida...

Being a place where ---- people know us as a town that tells the state what to do.

Being a town where ----all taxpayers have a voice.

We do so many things well, very well, but we are not making any progress on our biggest stumbling block.

"•A business friendly environment with attractive living wage jobs and a magnet for high tech low impact businesses."

Absolutely disgusting.
Might as well state:
"No new businesses"

To anon at 11:13 am are we reading the same thing? I cannot fathom what part of that statement you perceive as "disgusting." Business friendly? Living wage jobs? Magnet? Gee, sounds like very pro business to me.
I for one applaud the selectmen for taking the time to set a clear vision. Good job and thank you!
Nothing but negative, negative, negative from some of you.
Contribute a positive idea for a change instead of anonymous bashing.

Dear Alice, Hoow are things in wonderland ? That 11:13 post does bring up a concern....the " magnet for business " is used by all the downstate communities looking for businesses. We are different...we have a lake...very few communities do. Let's exploit that. Be what we are...be proud of it. Moultonboro isn't for everybody.....

I sure hope this is applicable to the land use boards as I have witnesses a decade of arrogance displayed by various chairs of both boards who are following their own agendas.

Why in this vision statement is there no statement to the effect that public servants, be they paid or voluntary, will act in for the public good in a fair, ethical and transparent manner???

z'•A business friendly environment with attractive living wage jobs and a magnet for high tech low impact businesses.z'

I guess the donut shop on 109 must be neither high tech nor low impact.

I guess the dollar store is neither high tech nor low impact.

Why not just state "We don't want no stinkin' businesses here".

So much for attracting businesses here in Moultonborough.

A bunch of hypocrites !

Just words on a document. Feel good words.

What about the part time public works employee that was top rated with all necessary CDL licenses but passed over for someone less qualified because of some behind the scenes shenanigans? Huh?

Just words, my good neighbors.

If I quote this to the Conservation Commisson, will it inspire them to post an agenda before their meetings, on the town website ? How can they expect support from the town, and citizens, when they are so secretive.

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! Missing from the Town Calendar: BoS Town Convention regarding the Town Vision Statement, to be held on Thursday, Oct. 30th at 7 P.M. in the M.A. cafeteria.

Town, Or BOS ? said...

Was that a TOWN vision statement? It was billed as the BOS vision statement....I was Disapointed on the unilateral creation of this...if a few taxpayers had a chance to proofread it, it would have been more relevant.

With the younger population declining, apparently going elsewhere, doesn't it make sense to somehow attract them along with potential business to our town?

How about a sense of community?! Because someone doesn't share your beliefs, you need to stoop to name-calling?!
