How over built will the schools in M'boro be? When will HUD start looking at our town with a view to resettling some Somali "refugees" ala Lewiston Maine? Remember , we have taken some Federal money, we are in their thrall now, if they say we must "host" an alien population and some well meaning but misguided group wish to sponsor them we will be powerless to resist. The nature of our town will be irreparably changed, and not for the better.

My, my can we get any further off topic? From a gym lease to Somali refugees. Wow.
The Refugee Act was enacted in 1980 , well before Obama became President. Lewiston Maine was a secondary migration settement, meaning that immigrants moved their on their own. They became a resettlement city due to the large number of Somalis that chose to move there.
By the way, our schools have already been built.

Let's get back to the advantage of renting or leasing this wonderful gymnasium.
The need, of course, for any gymnasium has not been provided yet.

Let me play Devil's advocate here: The BoS decides to sign a 2 or 3 year lease on this magnificent gym in Center Harbor. Great! Problem solved! Oh wait! The rec. dept. has to move everything down to the new facility...we can't have everything split between the 2 locations. That frees up the current rec. center for other uses, which will be filled with seniors and others wishing to play cards, mah jong, whatever. Next, the rec. director needs the 21 person coach to shuttle kids between M'boro and Center Harbor...right? Are you still with me? How many people do we have with a commercial driver's license, plus a back-up driver? Oh, and I almost forgot.....we need to spend $$$$$ and lots of it on liability insurance. Okay, I'm almost finished. At the end of the lease period, hundreds of thousands of dollars later, the building is no longer available for our use...the diocese needs it back. The rec. dept. will have to move back to M'boro...but wait! The former rec. center has been taken over by all the seniors in town for their various card sharking tournaments1 Oh me, I guess we'll have to build a new gym after all. End of story. Everyone did NOT live happily ever after.

Can we just vote one more time on this and get it over with??
We voted for building a new gym and a site study and we bought the Taylor land and the school is donating land. Enough already.

Moultonborough's voter rolls lists 3700 voters. Allowing 200-400 voters at Town Meeting to make the town's major decision is archaic in this day and age. So many disenfranchise tax paying voters with no voice. Doesn't seem right.

Sounds like this town needs a summer town meeting to settle this. The powers to be will tell you that is expensive, but think of the cost of this town making a $6,000,000,(SIX MILLION DOLLAR),mistake. This town has already said NO three times.Lets stop this unnecessary COMPLEX once and for ALL.

I think we should build a community center that people of all ages can use. The bigger, the better. Why not give the community something we all can enjoy? I'd be happy to fork over $100 a year in increased taxes. The thought of using a facility in another town to "patch" our shortcomings is an embarrassment. Stop acting like the town is destitute and do something right for a change.
