The draft report from DRA reinforces the need for a forensic audit. They could not even rely on the County numbers for their work - they had to use auditor worksheets.
It was 14 months ago that the performance audit stated that basic financial controls were not in place. This report shows that they still are not.
And "little" things like paying insurance benefits to people not on the payroll, lack of competitive bidding (I have submitted legislation), lack of documentation of purchases, lack of transparency, etc, etc.

What a waste said...

sounds like a waste of time and taxpayer money. If the DRA could not get accurate information it is worse than we thought. Bring on the forensic audit. Is there any way citizens can petition the county and force them to do it?

There is a meeting of the County Delegation on Monday at 10am at the County Admin Building. If you are able to attend, the meeting will start with public input. The next agenda items are the DRA report and the forensic audit.
Unfortunately, I will be out of town but have submitted a detailed list of items that need to be examined in the audit.

If these allegations are true people should lose their jobs. It's not inconceivable that substantial fraud has occurred as well; if so, people should go to jail over this.
