Tax Rate Set by NH DRA

Officially, the overall tax rate is now $9.01 or 1.7% over 2014 ($8.86).

                     2014              2015           % Change
Town             $2.85             $2.85             0%
County           $1.22             $1.42           14%
Local Ed        $2.26             $2.20           -2.7%
State Ed         $2.53             $2.54            0.5%

Hopefully the county budget will be significantly reduced next year when the revenue issues are resolved. On the plus side, the New Hampshire Retirement System has given the county a refund for the overpayment of dental premiums to ex-employees and some deceased former employees,of about $175,000 for the county’s overpayment.

Good Morning,
Thank you for the valuable service you provide to your community allowing a forum for citizens to stay informed and be involved in the conversation.

If I could I want to clarify one part of the above post. The $175,000 the County received was for over payment of retiree medical insurance premiums. The dental premiums were a costly and separate issue for which County taxpayers will not be reimbursed. A link to a news story about the $175k... http://www.newhampshirelakesandmountains.com/Articles-Carroll-County-Independent-c-2015-11-11-161173.113119-County-recoups-175000-spent-on-retirees-health-insurance.html
