" The majority of the 150-250 people who desire to spend a day at Town Meeting are not property taxpayers." That is a strange statement. We are all taxpayers. A good number live here year round and many, believe it or not, have children in the school system. To suggest that those of lesser means are not real taxpayers is, well, less than flattering. A lot less. I'm one of those with lesser means.
"It has been presented to the voters many times in one form or another for nearly a decade. The answer was "No" in 2008 and again in 2011; but here we are once again." Not true. There was one single vote against a specific project in 2008 for a community center at the Lions Club. There was no vote on anything related to community center in 2011. Not mentioned in the letter was that Town Meeting voted in 2013 to pursue development of a recreation facility per the Blue Ribbon report and in 2014, voters approved $17,500 for a site study for such a facility.
It's difficult to have an honest debate on this issue with some citizens. A lot like last nights Republican debate. Short on facts and substance, but chock full of bluster and bulls*&^t.
