LRPC Meeting May 23rd. Featured Topic: NH Wildlife Action Plan

Lakes Region Planning Commission Meeting

Monday, May 23rd, 2016 6:00 P.M.

Dear LRPC Commissioners, Town Administrators/City Managers, Selectboards/City Councils, Planning Boards, and Interested Parties:

On Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Gilford Community Church, Gilford NH, the Lakes Region Planning Commission will hold its regular Commissioner meeting. Our featured topic, the NH Wildlife Action Plan, has just been updated for the first time in 10 years and there is a wealth of new data and information! A UNH Cooperative Extension/NH Fish and Wildlife team will provide an overview of the 2015 Wildlife Action Plan, a review of the revised wildlife maps, data and information in in the updated plan, and most importantly, provide actions you can take to help NH’s wildlife and habitats. This could be a great tool for updating your master plan and land use ordinances.

Amanda Stone is a State Specialist – Natural Resources and Land Conservation, with UNH Cooperative Extension (UNHCE). She provides technical assistance, guidance and facilitation to communities and conservation groups working on natural resources inventories, land conservation planning, prioritizing resources for protection, education and outreach planning, wetland evaluation, climate adaptation, and using NH’s Wildlife Action Plan through the Taking Action for Wildlife program.

Emily Preston is a Wildlife Biologist with the NH Fish and Game Department. She is the co- coordinator of the NH Wildlife Action and participates in conservation and land use planning efforts throughout the state and region. She provides technical assistance to landowners, communities, conservation organizations and agencies on wildlife habitat protection and management.

Please join us on Monday, May 23rd, as this is an excellent opportunity to learn and share information. All LRPC meetings are open to the public. For additional information or special accommodation, please contact the LRPC: 279-8171 x7 or lrpc@lakesrpc.org.
