Sen. Chris Murphy (D) Connecticut Successful Filibuster. Will GOP Majority Do the Right Thing?

"It is our understanding ... that we have been given a commitment on a path forward to get votes on the floor of the Senate -- on a measure to assure that those on the terrorist watch list do not get guns and an amendment ... to expand background checks to gun shows and to internet sales,"  U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy

Promises are meaningless without action. The three items Senator Murphy mentions are very reasonable and should have been done a long time ago if not for the influence of the NRA on the GOP.
Let us pray that these measures do not get watered down into something of little value and that this comes to the floor of the Senate as soon as possible.

Yes, "control" for rifles, and handguns, with high count bullet magazines, that allow a slightly slower expending of gun fire than fully-automatic. Not the same issue as radical islamic terrorism and how to combat. Work both issues. Apples and oranges, but don't make fruit cocktail. The country has enough "fruitcakes", especially in positions of power.

Call it what it is. A call for more control by our Government, and letting our great leaders protect us with their great wisdom. Hmmm if I remember correctly, almost all these massacres have been associated with Muslim ideologies behind them. Why don't you call it what it really is.. Wow the progressive , leftist leanings of this blog are becoming more apparent to me. Call me a tin hatter Mr. Blogger, but you know what, I don't agree with your ideology.

This assault on firearms is silly at best. Terrorists do not buy weapons from Wal-Mart or any other firearms retailer. I am certain terrorists never wake up and think "today I will buy a weapon at Joe's gun shop and then kill 100 Americans". They would have at their disposal a network of supply depots within the organization they belong to. Or right off of Craig's List for that matter.
Much like a restraining order, A feel good measure, that in no way prevents anybody from obtaining weapons or carrying out the plans they have made. I've said it before and I will say it again, If I want somebody dead, they are already in the box. The police will only clean up the mess. They have no ability to stop anybody from doing anything.
Heroin is illegal but there seems to be no trouble for thousands of people to obtain it. It is illegal for policemen/women to abuse/kill/rape people, but that didn't stop the Sheriff's deputy in Belknap county from raping all those women he has now been convicted of raping. Laws haven't stopped the police from killing people and laws won't stop people from killing people. You know why, it's in our nature to do so. Like it or not, raping children is a "normal human function". Yes NORMAL. If it were not then it would not happen, EVER! But it does. It has always happened and will always happen. Nobody can stop it because it is a normal human function. (For all the sheeple living in a dark cave, I absolutely do not and have never condoned that behavior. I only recognize it as normal behavior as it has and will always be part of the human condition).
The only way to stop people from doing bad things is to convince them there is a better way. People do not refrain from driving while intoxicated because it is illegal, they don't drive drunk because they know doing so can cause harm and or loss. If they didn't drive drunk because it was illegal, we would not have so many DUI's every year, and year after year. And again, normal human behavior.
So in closing, while people who live in some weird world of denile argue about whether or not guns, spoons, or sticks and stones are illegal or not, the world will continue to spin. Bad things will continue to occur and the uninformed will continue to cry foul!
