I was surprised that there was not a goal to reduce Moultonborough's Carroll County Assessments by eliminating the duplicative Sheriff and Dispatch services. In addition, the Nursing Home should be assessed in part based on what towns the residents come from instead of an overall property assessment. Moultonborough is carrying 25+% of the costs but I bet have very few folks in residence. A whole look is needed at the entire assessment process as well as forensic audits, etc. etc. The BOS should be increasing oversight of the County operation rather than just passing on the costs.
The county assessment is always on the radar. Last evening we were asked to support,by the sheriff's department, another homeland security grant. I asked that we conditionally support the request depending on how Moultonboro citizens and taxpayers would benefit. We decided to ask the Sheriff to come to our meeting next week or send some written information to us before we send a letter of support.
Last time I checked you folks are using State police at night you have the opportunity to use the sheriffs office quit complaining and just pay like the rest you're still using state police so how much you given them and Moultonborough does benefit from the sheriffs office there are sheriffs patrolling moultonborough roads and giving back up
To anon at 7:34Moultonborough has a 24 hour department. They don't use the state at night. Because the town's population is over 3000 the state has limited jurisdiction. They may back up MPD but everyone around here backs each other up. The sheriffs office patrols the whole county and spends less time in towns with 24 hour departments. There are a couple of deputies that live in town which is why you see them more. A couple of state officers live in town also.
I think you better check your facts moultonborough does not have 24 hour dispatch they have state police yesterday it was an accident in front of Blake Rd., State police had to cover it because you guys had no one and we had to wait for your stupid one tow truck to move the cars out of the road so go check it out you don't even know what goes on in your town........
