Maine and Massachusetts's were two of four states that voted last month to legalize recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older. Colorado’s legal marijuana sales grew to nearly $1 billion in 2015, creating more than $135 million in revenue from taxes and fees that the state put toward school construction and other public projects.
There are downsides though. "Pot capitalism" has it's problems. Newborn babies testing positive for marijuana, illegal production and product leaving the borders among them. In addition, there is no breathalyzer test to measure how impaired one is when stoned.
All around us, recreational use of marijuana is becoming legal in one form or another. How will this impact NH? Time will tell, but we should pay close attention to how it plays out with our New England neighbors.
