Sununu said if the federal government withdraws its $450 million in funding, the only way to replace that money would be a substantial state income tax.

That surprising statement from Gov. Sununu was made at an editorial board at the Conway Daily Sun's office on Monday. He was referring to the potential loss of $450 million in Medicaid funding from Washington that may or may not be forthcoming in the future,
“There no other way to do it, That’s the unfortunate dynamic of what we are dealing with and why it’s so important for the federal government to step up to the plate.”
For more on the topic of health care, Carroll District 3 Rep. Jerry Knirk (D-Freedom) a retired physician, will  host and moderate a Healthcare Town Hall at the Brett School gymnasium in Tamworth tonight at 7 p.m..
Per Rep. Knirk: “Our health-care system is too costly and difficult to access,I know firsthand the difficulties that people face when they either have no insurance coverage or inadequate insurance coverage. I believe that access to health care is a basic human right, not a commodity. I favor a single payer system, such as Medicare, which would eliminate the insurance companies altogether, along with their diversion of our premium dollars to exorbitant executive salaries, shareholder profits and marketing, rather than to providing health care.”
